Cold Weather Advisory issued February 6 at 11:17PM EST until February 8 at 10:00AM EST by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
AREAS AFFECTED: Charles; St. Marys
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the High Wind Warning, northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 7 degrees below zero expected. * WHERE...Charles and St. Marys Counties. * WHEN...For the High Wind Warning, from 4 AM to 7 PM EST Saturday. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 4 AM Saturday to 10 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills will remain at or below zero during the day on Saturday due to windy conditions and cold temperatures.
INSTRUCTION: Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 or visit your county or city website for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the cold.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.

an observable effect on rainfall, due to an effect called the urban heat island.
Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
