DESCRIPTION: ...PROLONGED PERIOD OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY THROUGH AT LEAST MID NEXT WEEK... ...EXTREMELY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE TUESDAY... .Recent dry conditions combining with above normal temperatures and periods of gusty winds will bring potentially critical fire weather conditions today and Monday. Stronger, more widespread westerly winds are expected to develop Tuesday, possibly producing extremely critical fire weather conditions with wind gusts as high as 65 mph across the plains. ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 6PM MST MONDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR WASHINGTON AND LINCOLN COUNTIES... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR WASHINGTON AND LINCOLN COUNTIES... The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM to 6 PM MST Monday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 246 and 249. * TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 5 PM MST this afternoon. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 11 AM to 6 PM MST Monday. For the Fire Weather Watch, from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. * WINDS...Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph Sunday and Monday. West winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph on Tuesday * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 11 percent. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire.

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.
